What Are You Reading? (October Edition)

The stack of coaching books that sits on top of my too-small cube-land bookshelf.

Coaches work to cultivate a sense of lifelong learning in their colleagues. So, we need to be lifelong learners, too. What better way to do that than reading?

We will begin each month around here by sharing a few things that we are reading.

Use the comments to let us know what you are reading.

Here are a few titles from our coaches:

Notice and Note: Strategies for Close Reading
Kylene Beers and Robert E. Probst

Classroom Instruction that Works: Research-Based Strategies for Increasing Student Achievement
Robert J. Marzano

"Why Common Core Matters: What Parents Need to Know"
Susan B. Neuman and Kathleen Roskos for Reading Teacher (September 2013)

A Game for Swallows
Zeina Abirached
Young adult graphic novel about civil war in Lebanon

Drawing from Memory
Allen Say
Memoir about becoming an artist that mixes genres (graphic novel, comic book, informational text)

Note: This post isn't intended to be an endorsement of any particular titles, authors, or ideas. It's simply a listing of what we're currently reading.
